Must to do Things in Rishikesh

A tiny semi-urban city situated on the foothills of Himalayan terrain and at the bank of Holy Hindu river Ganges is called Rishikesh. This beautiful city has many identities; it is famous such as spiritual city, Yoga & Meditation hub, adventure destination, and an all season favorite tourist place.  No matter what the season, streets of Rishikesh are filled with people from different regions and countries which give a look to it of a cosmopolitan town.Rishikesh has some certain kind of positive vibes filled in its atmosphere that touches somewhere your heart in deep. This is the reason why people want to spend the rest of their life here.There are some reasons, that is why people never want to satiate their desire to be here and so they want to visit this place again & again if they can’t afford to own land here.

Ask to people who have been to different places they’ll tell you that where their soul feels ultimate joy is the place called, Rishikesh. It could sound somewhat exaggerated however this is true.

Adventure sports famous in Rishikesh:

(I.) White water River Rafting, Shivpuri, Rishikesh is a hot spot for adventure lovers. Start with River rafting, one of the truly adventuresome and breathe taking activities you can try in the wild streams of Ganges. River-Rafting expedition takes place in Shivpuri, which is a starting point of it, and ends in Ramjhula, Rishikesh where the Ganges seems to be quiet calm & sober. For those who want to experience river-rafting with their families and are not extreme adventurous can start rafting with Brahmapuri. And yes, for the extreme adventure lover and dare souls Shivpuri is the best place to start with.

(2.)  Bungee Jumping, Flying fox, Giant Swing:  Rishikesh is the only place in Uttaranchal and in India where the Bungee Jumping (83mtr.), Giant Swing, and Flying Fox like freaky adventure sports are organized. 15 kms away from Rishikesh downtown, MohanChatti is the Destination for Bungee jumping.

Yoga & Meditation:  Today the need for Yoga can’t be denied, as it is becoming an essential part of our life. Even the busiest person practices yoga by taking a little time out of their tight schedule.  Yoga has become the tool to help your mind and body stay healthy. Yoga is more powerful than that. Its higher purpose is to attain a state of perfect spiritual insight; its true purpose is to assist a yogi (a practitioner of yoga) connect to the Divine within. Yoga stems from the Sanskrit word Yuj, meaning to “join” or “get united.” The ultimate goal of yoga is to unite one’s soul with the Brahman, the Absolute Reality.

 Rishikesh is the land of sages & sadhus and house to many Yoga & Meditation centers and Institutions. Rishikesh is famous as Yoga & Meditation city, too; as the big percentage of its visitors is only of yoga and Meditation practitioners.  Parmarth Niketan and Jayaram Ashram are some of the renowned centers for Yoga as well as meditation. There you can learn various ancient Yoga & Meditation techniques, like Tattva Yoga, Kriya Yoga, Hatha Yoga and AshtanaYoga.

Shopping- In Rishikesh there’s many small markets which are occupied with traditional Indian cloths, spiritual wears, gems & stones, spiritual music & books, Ayurvedic medicines, herbs & meditational plants, spices, cotton cloths. You can also buy many beautiful wooden handicraft items, imitation jewellery, and colorful handmade hanging bags here. In Rishikesh you can buy all kind of fashion wears & accessories from modern to ethnic. Famous markets in Rishikesh are Laxman Jhula, Swarg Ashram, Ramjhula.

Try out multiple cuisines in Restaurants in Rishikesh: When you are there in Rishikesh just don’t forget to visit food destinations which provide International cuisines, but only vegetarian & vegan. You can taste variety of delicious recipes from all corners of India as well as outside. Let your tongue taste the spicy Masala Dosa-Sambhar, Vada-Idli-Coconut Chatni from South India to DaalBaati And Sarson saag(Mustard Leafs curry) with Makai Roti(Corn fleur Indian bread). As International recopies you can try Mexican soup, Italian food like pizza & pasta, Russian Salad with other Asian cuisines. Also taste Aaloo chat- and Paani puri there in awesome street foods.

Ganga Aarti: One of the most attractive things to do in Rishikesh is joining fabulous Ganga Aarti. Parmarth Niketan is the famous Yoga & meditation center where many devotees come to learn Yoga & meditation Practice. In evening be a one of the few luckiest people to witness the Ganga Aarti, where in dusk sadhus, Brahmins (Sanskrit scholers) performs Havna before it.

Hang out in Marine drive &Triveni Ghat: Those who want to spend their quality time at some nice place also capturing images then Triveni Ghat & Marine drive is the best place for them to walk and hang out with your loved ones or in groups. Triveni Ghat is a beautiful place where u can join Ganga Aarti like Parmarth Niketan, join Satsang eve, visit temples and here you walk to the Ramjhula & LaxmanJhula to north and Bairaj(Chilla) to southward direction.

Camping: You can enjoy Camping in Garud Chatti, Shivpuri and Brahmapuri. There you can enjoy the few nights & days under the myriad sparkling stars near at the bank of lively Ganges.

Safari: Join your long cherished wildlife Safari tour in the famous Rajaji National park in Chilla range. This is very beautiful forest and a house of various wild animals like Elephant, Leopard, Peacock, deer, stag and wild boar. Map & explore the dense forest on Jeep and Elephant Safari.
