It is located at Gurudwara dedicated to the 10th Guru of Sikhs, Guru Govind Singh, the founder of the Khalsa Panth. Guru Govind Singh meditated on the banks of this lake in his earlier life as Rishi Bishala and was also known as Rishi Medhasa and Madhakth. A mention of this rishi is made in Markandey Purana.The best season to visit Hemkund is between July and October. During these days, we will find the water still, which has shards of ice floating in it, glinting in the sun with the rock-strewn banks of the lake covered in moss and the flowers in bright bloom.
